Course preview description (shorter excerpt for the course card):
A 6-month, one-on-one mentoring program helping Midwest Victoria tourism businesses build confidence and skill in smartphone video — from first lesson through to real results.
Welcome to the Tourism Midwest Victoria Business Video Program! In this very first lesson, we are mapping out exactly what the next 6 months look like for your business in the Tourism Midwest Victoria Business Video Program. I'll walk you through the 5 key stages—from onboarding and custom strategy to our hands-on on-site shoot and long-term accountability check-ins. Grab a coffee, lock in the key dates, and let's get ready to build your video confidence!
This is where your program really begins.
The form below is how I get to know your business — where you're at with video right now, what you want to achieve, and what you're committing to over the next few months. Your answers shape everything that follows, so it's worth doing properly.
Set aside about 20 minutes and work through it in one sitting if you can. Answer honestly — there are no wrong answers, and the more detail you give me, the more I can tailor the program to you.
Once you've finished and hit submit, head straight to the next lesson — Fill Out and Submit Form — to lock in your commitment and mark Stage 1 complete.
Let's get your analytics tracking sorted out! In this video, I'm showing you exactly how to connect your business's social media profiles to our management platform, Vista Social. This tool lets us track your video metrics seamlessly over the next 6 months—without you needing to hand over passwords or add us as page admins. It's safe, fast, and takes the manual headache out of measuring your video wins!
This is the big one, guys — the foundation the whole program is built on. Wes takes the boring old "customer journey" that marketers overcomplicate and flips it into something you'll never forget: a dating relationship, from the first time a customer spots you across the room to putting a ring on it. You'll walk through all 8 stages, work out exactly where your business is sitting right now, and start seeing where video quietly does the heavy lifting at every step. Buckle in — this one sets you up for every session that follows.
To make finding your winning video strategy even easier, I’ve put together a massive master slide deck packed with 72 high-performing social media video examples! In this lesson, I'll show you how to download this deck, review the clips, delete what doesn't fit, and pick your top 5 favorite concepts. Once you save and send your custom deck back to me, we'll use your choices to build your exact video plan!
Stop staring at a blank screen wondering what to film! In this lesson, I'll show you how to use Instagram to search, find, and save high-performing video ideas in your specific industry. We'll explore custom collections, Instagram's built-in templates, and trending audio so you can build your own library of proven content concepts. Get ready to embrace the "Rip Off & Duplicate" strategy and fast-track your video creation!
Want high-quality video content for your business without having to film everything yourself? In this lesson, I’ll show you how to hunt down local creators and micro-influencers right here in Ballarat using Instagram’s location pins. You'll learn how to filter recent posts, spot high-engagement creators, and send a simple DM pitch to get free video content for your page!
Discover how Instagram Edits templates can help you turn your existing smartphone footage into polished Reels without manually timing every cut. Wes demonstrates how to find, save, customise, and organise templates for faster business content creation.
Learn the common layout and essential tools found in professional smartphone editing apps. Wes demonstrates how to import footage, navigate a timeline, trim and split clips, rearrange your story, control audio, add text and voiceovers, and export a finished video.
Compare Instagram Edits, CapCut, Adobe Premiere and Canva to determine which mobile editing app best suits your business videos, preferred workflow and level of editing experience.
Learn how to choose music that supports your business videos without relying on tracks that may be muted, blocked or unsuitable for commercial use. Wes explains Instagram’s account-based music access and demonstrates several places to find alternative music.
Learn how to find free royalty-free music on Pixabay, save it to your phone and import it into Instagram Edits or Premiere Rush. You’ll also create an organised music library that makes future editing faster.
Cutaways—also known as B-roll—are supporting videos or photos placed over your main footage.
They allow viewers to see what you are discussing while continuing to hear the original narration underneath. This makes business videos more visually interesting, provides valuable context and helps disguise edits in a talking-to-camera recording.
In this lesson, Wes demonstrates how to add, position, trim and manage cutaways using Instagram Edits and Premiere Pro on a smartphone.
Creating every Reel from scratch can take time. In this lesson, Wes demonstrates a phone-only workflow for taking a Reel you are authorised to use, saving it with Publer and transforming it into a new piece of content using Instagram Edits.
You’ll learn how to retain the useful structure or opening of a Reel while replacing other sections with your own business footage, message, text and audio.
Your business may already have more usable video content than you realise.
A professionally produced promotional video, television interview or older social media video can contain numerous individual shots that can be reused in new Reels and business videos.
In this lesson, Wes demonstrates how to recover your existing videos, separate the strongest shots, reframe horizontal footage for vertical platforms and organise everything into a reusable content library.
You’ll also see the difference between processing the footage yourself and using Tap Edit Go’s $300 done-for-you repurposing service.
